Help to drive growth in Aypa’s portfolio of stand-alone utility-scale energy storage and renewable hybrid projects through assessing markets, identifying competitive project locations and creating actionable recommendations for securing project sites through greenfield and M&A.  This is a high visibility role in a growth organization in a fast-paced industry, with a broad scope that will present opportunities to build expertise at the intersection of commercial strategy and project development.



  • Gather, organize and analyze data relevant for understanding and anticipating demand for utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects across different geographies, timelines and commercial structures.
  • Conduct primary research through data mining of utility IRPs and other resources.
  • Understand development criteria to create views on most attractive market opportunities.
  • Monitor competitor activity and build databases of competitive intelligence.
  • Identify locations for projects most likely to be successful in targeted markets, coordinating with internal subject matter experts.
  • Assess potential project locations for development risk, including confirming availability of suitable land, screening for siting constraints and flagging any potential permitting risks.
  • Work with GIS team to implement new functionalities in Aypa’s proprietary mapping software to streamline the siting process.
  • Contribute to building tools for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of converting commercial insights into well-positioned project sites.


Key Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A graduate degree (MBA, finance or quantitative science) is desirable.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in utility-scale renewable energy or energy storage project development.
  • Experience with GIS mapping tools.
  • Passion for learning about the electric power sector and demand drivers for utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects.
  • Demonstrably strong organizational skills and experience using project and task tracking tools.
  • High initiative and desire to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with senior mentorship but limited task-level direction and supervision.
  • As part of a lean and dynamic team, the candidate must be able to plan, oversee, and personally execute numerous projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities.

Salary:  A base salary commensurate with experience.

Bonus:  An annual bonus will be awarded based on both individual performance as well as the overall success of the business.

Location:  Ability to work in the United States is a requirement.  Preference for candidate to be based in Austin, TX or Portland, OR.
